Set up Accoil

Connect product data, configure the way Accoil interprets it, create a workspace, and start exploring dashboards and profiles.

Written by Simon Herd

Set up Accoil in three stages: send product data, configure the concepts that make the data useful, and create a workspace for the audience you want to understand. After data is available, use dashboards, segments, profiles, and Search to investigate it.

1. Send product data to Accoil

Choose the connection that fits your existing product analytics setup:

Send stable user and account identifiers, the events that represent product actions, and the traits you need for filtering and context. Accoil starts processing the data after it arrives.

2. Configure how Accoil interprets the data

Configuration turns incoming identifiers, events, and traits into concepts your team can use.

Map important traits

Choose the traits Accoil should use for information such as an account's display name and creation date. Set the correct data type for date, number, and text traits so filters and calculations offer the right options.

Use Data Configuration for account mapping and Configure Traits for trait settings.

Group events into features

A feature combines related events into a meaningful product capability, such as creating a report or inviting a teammate. Features make product usage easier to analyse in dashboards, segments, activation, and workspaces.

Use Set up features when you are ready to group events.

Define activation when needed

Activation describes the early actions that show a user or account has begun to receive value. Configure user and account criteria separately when activation is part of your product model.

Use Set up activation to define the criteria.

3. Create a workspace

A workspace is a scoring model for a particular audience, journey, or part of your product. Choose the product actions that represent meaningful engagement, set the period Accoil should consider, and add audience filters when the workspace is intended for a specific group.

Start with a simple model that reflects the clearest signals of value. You can refine the workspace as you learn which product actions distinguish healthy, growing, or at-risk customers.

Use Configure a workspace for the detailed setup flow.

Explore your data

The Home suggested dashboard gives you a starting point after a workspace has data.

The current Home suggested dashboard

From there:

  • use Suggested Dashboards for common questions about activation, activity, engagement, events, features, retention, segments, and signups

  • browse the Metric Library when you need a different measure or want to add a metric card to a custom dashboard

  • create a segment to review or act on a specific audience

  • open an account or user profile for an individual view

  • use Search or Command K to find an account or user, including matches in another workspace

Check the selected object and time period before comparing results. A user metric describes individual people; an account metric groups activity around accounts.

Keep the setup current

Review the workspace and configuration when your product, data model, or definition of meaningful engagement changes. Add new events and traits deliberately, update features when product capabilities change, and keep activation criteria focused on early value rather than ongoing engagement.
